The Central Illinois area offers more than just the Illinois Amish Country. Scattered about the corn and bean fields in East Central Illinois are numerous, scenic state parks to visit. They offer fishing, camping, lodges, hunting, hiking, swimming and lots of just plain relaxing. Whether your looking an exciting adventure in the woods or just a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the everyday, you are sure to find it in one of central Illinois beautiful state parks.
Below is a list of some of the state parks that are in or surrounding the Illinois Amish country. Most are a 30 minute or less drive from Arthur. Arthur itself has a wonderful park system with plenty of open space, multiple ball diamonds, a community swimming pool, pavillions, tennis courts, and RV hookups and tent camping space in or community parks during most of the year. Specific camping exceptions are during the Arthur Fireworks Freedom Celebration and the Moultrie-Douglas County Fair, both in July. Otherwise space is generally first come available.
